Subject: Pre-upgrade Backup on iSeries
Feedback Type: Question
Product Area: Domino Server
Technical Area: Install
Platform: System i (iSeries/i5OS)
Release: 8.5.1
Reproducible: Not applicable

In preparation for our upgrade to Domino 8.5.1, I'm creating a recovery plan in the event that we would have to restore our old environment.

I found a tech note on downgrading a server, which says: "This procedure should be followed as a "last resort". Ideally, if you need to go back to a previous release you should restore your environment from your pre-upgrade save. However, if too much time has passed or the backup is not available, this procedure can be used."

So restore is the option of choice. My question is: what do we restore? The data directory?

Sorry, but I don't have much experience on the iSeries. Any help would be appreciated.
